Ms. Nina Anne Bell is chairman at greedy
RAC Norway AS, which operates some Avis and Budget Bilutleie locations in Norway. https://www.racgroup.no/ (see at right)
THE BAIT - FRIENDLY STAFF
"My flight was delayed, but a friendly worker was waiting for me at the Avis desk." (Børge Thorbjørnsen, Google Review of Avis Stavanger Airport)
"They had give me a better car than the one I requested and they have been extremely helpful". (Juan Figueroa, Google Review of Avis Stavanger Airport)
WHICH WORKS AS ADVERTISED
"A bait-and-switch does not typically involve selling phony or nonfunctional products; the overpriced products and services work as advertised."
(How a Bait-and-Switch Works, https://www.moneycrashers.com/bait-and-switch-advertising-definition-laws/)
AND THEY QUOTE THE LOWEST PRICES IN MARKET FOR THESE NICE CARS
"1. Too Good to Be True
Sellers who use bait-and-switch scams attract customers by offering great deals. Before attempting to buy an advertised product or service, ask yourself if the seller can really afford to sell at that price. Legitimate dealers don’t want to lose money on a sale." (How a Bait-and-Switch Works, https://www.moneycrashers.com/bait-and-switch-advertising-definition-laws/)
JUST LOOK AT CARRENTALS.COM
And you'll see that the four lowest-priced offerings for a one-week rental are all Avis and Budget. From Rac Norway.
BUT EVEN THOUGH THEY ADVERTISE LOW PRICES FOR GOOD CARS
Anuj Chopra describes Rac Norway as "The worst car rental in the world". (Anuj Chopra, Google Review of Avis Stavanger Airport)(see at left)
AND THE REASON IS SIMPLE
They bait you with the low prices, and switch in a much higher price.
HOW THIS WORKS: "ABSOLUTE DAY LIGHT ROBBERY"
"Hired a van and returned in the same condition silly not to take photos when returned and now having to cop up for £1000, absolute day light robbery . Money grabbing , low life scum if you ask me , do not rent from here off you want your life saving taken from you". (Brodie Walker, Google Review of Avis Stavanger Airport)
RAC NORWAY FALSIFIES CHARGES LONG AFTER THE RETURN
"rented a car from AVIS Stavanger Airport. from 16-17 Feb. Delivered it without damage. 7 weeks later I am contacted by AVIS with a claim for compensation for damage that emerged from the hood. two large stripes that were not there when I delivered it. However, the car is driven 4 km after I delivered it, and it is against the guidelines for how a check of a returned car should be carried out. The damage is solely compatible with a washing machine in a brush machine. Slightly odd to send a claim 7 weeks after filing a car. Will NEVER rent a car again from AVIS. PURE SCAM". (Halvor Dahlberg, Google Review of Avis Stavanger Airport)
HOW THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS
Rac Norway is careful not to have a representative present to inspect the car with the renter. They do it after the fact, with no witnesses, and charge what they can get away with for items the renter would have called them on.
"it was fast and easy to pick up the car. returning the car is worse. but its a general car rental issue: they don't check the returned car immediately for damages, so when they claim you damaged the car, you are not around to explain. the slogan is "we try harder": try hard enough to have 1 guy always at the parking lot to check the returned cars immediately". (Csaba Hegedűs, Google Review of Avis Stavanger Airport)
SO IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF
"Great company to hire through if you are wanting to get robbed of your money! I’d rather drag my naked body through thistles then deal with these imbosiles again. Returned the car we hired through them in identical condition as we picked it up and were silly enough to not take pictures. Had the maximum excess taken off our credit card a couple of months later. Around £1000. Criminals." (Damien Short, Google Review of Avis Stavanger Airport)
The story is always the same. No mutual check-out of returned rental cars. After the return -- long after -- Rac Norway charges exhorbitant amounts for damages which never took place.
Cheating one customer after another.
AND IF YOU'RE JUST THINKING ABOUT TAKING AN AVIS RENTAL AT STAVANGER AIRPORT
"Learn what other people have to say about the seller. Never do business with someone who has a shady reputation to avoid becoming a victim of fraud." (How a Bait-and-Switch Works, https://www.moneycrashers.com/bait-and-switch-advertising-definition-laws/)
