DIRTY GUESTROOM WITH BED BUGS
Its not unusual for human visitors to find a "dirty room with bed bugs". (Brittany, Review, 13 Oct 2008, http://travelc.priceline.com/travelguides/tgdetails.do?pageType=D&attrType=hotels&attrId=143271&rdr=1)
A COMFORTABLE INN FOR BED BUGS
"Cimicidae or (sometimes bedbugs), are small parasitic insects." "Bed bugs can be found singly, but often congregate once established. They usually remain close to hosts, commonly in or near beds or couches. " (Bed Bug, Wikipedia)
Well, maybe Brittany had a one-time experience, and the rooms are otherwise kept clean?
Ron also found a "poor/dirty room". (Ron, Business Traveler, 16 Jun 2008, http://travelc.priceline.com/travelguides/tgdetails.do?pageType=D&attrType=hotels&attrId=143271&rdr=1)
BED BUD EPIDEMIC
In November, 2010, this Colorado-based traveler "dealt with ants, bedbugs, and noisy neighbors". (Review, 26 Dec 2010, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g33031-d80104-Reviews-Comfort_Inn_Airport_South-San_Mateo_California.html)
The list of testimonials could go on and on. Bed bugs are a common problem at the Comfort Inn San Mateo.
Well, let's say that some rooms have bed bugs, and some don't. Surely the hotel staff is accomodating?
Well, surely not.
RUDE STAFF REFUSES TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES
A traveler from North Carolina arrived at this motel, and the clerk at the desk claimed there was no reservation in the computer. A clerk with no name tag, and "no name".
Legitimate hotel staff are always able to identify themselves, but legitimate staff seem to be hard to find at this run-down motel.
"I was in the middle of the city I've never been before at 2 o'clock in the morning,
A HEART OF STONE
I was so tired and I didn't know where to go because all hotels around the area were sold out. Can you imagine my reaction when I knew that
WHAT IS THE "OWNER" TRYING TO HIDE?the front desk clerk was the General Manager and the Owner of the hotel!!!!!!! I don't know his name because he refused to give it to me. And at the end
DISPUTE RESOLUTION: THREATENED TO CALL POLICE
he told me he was going to call police if I didn't leave the property when I was trying to find another hotel. I've never seen so unprofessional, irresponsible management in my life!!!!!!!" BAY AREA UNDERWORLD ALSO FINDS THE INN "COMFORTABLE"
"This hotel is located in a bad neighborhood. Expect to find 18 to 25 year olds hanging around the parking lot and making lots of noise (yelling, loud laughing, revving car engines) late into the night.
If you are as lucky as I was, you will also get to hear those 18 to 25 year olds shooting at each other at around 2:00am. Then, of course, there is the phone call from the front desk at around 3:00am asking why you called 911 from the hotel phone. . . "Didn't you hear the gunshots in your own parking lot?". . . "Yes.". . . "Well, that's why I called 911.". . . "Oh, ok."" "I am very disappointed with the hotel. What a terrible experience this was! I should not have to wait for three hours while the staff come in and out,
ABYSMAL STATE OF DISREPAIR
trying to repair our television. Then when they moved us to the next room with a very bad attitude, I had to fix the plumbing in the sink. The next morning, as we were leaving the maid blocked the hallway, and when I asked her to please move one of the carts, she told me to go around!
HOSTILE STAFF CURSES HOTEL VISITORS
And I am sure that whatever she called me as I walked down the hall was not a nice word." (Lori, Review, 13 Sep 2009, http://travelc.priceline.com/travelguides/tgdetails.do?pageType=D&attrType=hotels&attrId=143271&rdr=1)
So if you're looking for accomodations with "Horrible service" and "dirty rooms" (per Brittany, Review, 13 Oct 2008, http://travelc.priceline.com/travelguides/tgdetails.do?pageType=D&attrType=hotels&attrId=143271&rdr=1), come straight to the Comfort Inn Airport South in San Mateo.
